A barcode menu that scans first time
What many people call a menu barcode is usually a QR code. It carries the link to your menu, and guests open it with the phone camera, no app needed.
A QR code, not a linear barcode
A linear barcode usually holds a few digits and suits products. A menu needs a link, which is why a QR code is used.
Scans without an app
iPhone and Android cameras read the code directly and open the menu right away.
Print it large and clear
Black on white with an empty margin around it, at no less than 2x2 cm. Test it on both phones before a big print run.
Check your codes
Watch for fake stickers placed over real codes, and keep a few printed copies of the menu as a backup.
Static or dynamic code?
A static code carries your page link directly, so it cannot be edited, does not count scans and never expires. A dynamic code carries a short link that redirects to your page, so the destination can change and scans can be counted, but it works only while the service behind it stays active.
- Do your edits show on the printed code without reprinting?
- Is it static or dynamic?
- What happens when the trial or the plan ends?
- Is there a limit on scans?
- Does it show an ad or the provider logo?
